Ministry Council Update —January 2012

In an effort to keep the Bethany church family up to date on what is happening with our Leadership Team, Ministry Council together committed to provide monthly updates, as feasible, regarding what decisions have been made, and actions are to be taken as a result of their meeting.

2012 Ministry Council for Bethany EMC consists of: Dan Reese (Chairperson), Robert Braun, Ray Stewart, John Klein, Marilyn Mank, Blake Martin. Also part of the team are Pastor Mark Willcock and Judy Golds.

Pastor Dave Lewis gave his final report. He encouraged us to revisit the Visionary Leadership Community (VLC) discussions from the past year, keep thinking of the big picture, and spend much time in prayer for our church as we seek to move forward. He encouraged us that God would continue to lead us and give us wisdom in all that we do as we serve our Lord. He has been blessed in working with us at Bethany and thanked us for the opportunity to serve here. Dan Reese thanked Pastor Dave for his leadership and ministry to us.

Also during the meeting:

              • After much discussion and thought, a decision was made to change our advertising in the Kitchener Record to special events only.

              • It was agreed that further communication and training will be coming to the church family regarding Fire Safety, specifically for our weekend services.

              • An update was provided regarding the search for the Pastor of Congregational Care. The work is on going, resumes have been received, shortlisted, and the selection process continues.

              • The 2012 budget was presented, reviewed and the draft was accepted and will be presented at the Annual Meeting on

         MONDAY. MARCH 5, 2012 AT 7:00 PM.

The corporation also had a short meeting and the following directors were appointed for 2012: Dan Reese (Chairperson); Robert Braun (Vice-Chairperson); John Klein (Treasurer) and Marilyn Mank (Secretary).

We are indeed thankful for the offerings we have received from God’s people at Bethany.   As of March 31, 2012, we would like to provide the following update:

- total actual givings are $165,139 vs a budget of $196,427

- average givings per week required $15,115, we are receiving an average of $12,703

- total actual givings were $176,301 for the same period of January – March   2011 

- total actual expenses are below budget, resulting in a surplus of $ 6,681 year to

date compared to a surplus of $31,551 in 2011.
